Singlespeed maneuvers in the dark

The anticipation was growing, the first night ride of the season was finally going to happen, my lights were charged, the mighty Kona Unit was prepped, and I was amped to get out and ride!

I'd been unsuccessfully trying to organise a night ride for weeks now and everything that could possibly halt progress was being thrown at me. Preparation for the inaugural ride for this season seemed to be going so well.... 10 minutes before I'm about to leave I discover the cable for my new battery pack was too short, damn, I guess thats what happens when you guesstimate the length.... I rushed back to the shed and grabbed some crimp lugs and a length of cable, quick modification to my night light and I was sorted, awesome, thunderbirds are go!

Arriving at the forest I could see Slim and Michelle unpacking their bikes. As I got out of the car, Michelle dazzled me with her sexy new Jeffson singlespeed, and I was temporarily blinded by the bling, as I regained my composure I unpacked my gear while Slim grabbed his Karate Monkey off the rack. We were primed and ready to go.

Heading down the gravel road towards the tracks the memories of good times had whilst night riding came flooding back and a big smile appeared on my dial, we tore off into the night and soaked up all of the forest's atmosphere as we flew along the tracks, all the while the quiet drive trains of three singlespeeds did their best to not disturb the peaceful quiet of the night time forest.

It felt like it was over almost as soon as it had started but the lust was satiated and all we could talk about in the carpark was when we would be out next, I can't wait.
