In September of 2008 cyclists from around the world will gather on SR305 outside of Battle Mountain, Nevada for the 9th consecutive year to race on one of the straightest, flattest, and smoothest surfaces in the world. The 4,619ft (1,408m) altitude road allows riders an acceleration zone of over 4 miles, enabling them to reach their maximum velocity before being timed over a 200 meter distance.

A Day on the Fringe (Hill)
It's been a murky winter here in Christchurch. It seems like every other day when I get up and open the curtains, it's raining.
Shredding through uni - The Rev Urban 4X
The Rev cycling festival certainly lured an eclectic mix of riders to the University of Waikato. As mobs of dirty lycra clad roadies inhabit the fields, a small cluster of us turn up will full faces and armour ready to wreak some havoc.

Single minded
The inaugural single speed nats were approached by all with an air of anticipation. All that we could be certain about was the presence of beer and madness. According to all the bollocks single speeders are the ‘wacky’ and ‘crazy’ clique of mountain bikers, with a passion for pain. We were looking forward to meeting a few new faces, and finding out exactly what this is all about. This was the first big organised mass of single speeders in New Zealand, so whatever happened it was going to be an interesting weekend.
Retro and Racing!
A couple of months back I saw that Gravity Canterbury were holding a retro DH race the Undy Hundy and I got quite excited about having a reason add yet another bike to the stable

Undy Hundy Retro Downhill Race

On Saturday the 7th of June, Gravity Canterbury held the inaugural "Under $100 Retro Downhill Race". We had a great turnout (especially considering the inclement weather!) of almost 20 riders, all in costume, and riding all manner of ancient bicycles (read: pieces of crap!).
