Out to Portobello via the hilltop today... then back.
I noticed mid-ride that my stem isn't 100% aligned, but resisted the temptation to stop and fix it... probably means I'm not a real roadie. :eh:

Contrary to populist opinion and rhetoric, it's been a great week for road cycling. Have seen a heap of people out and about having fun.

Had a wheel-sucker earlier in the week, but shook them off and then cruised for a couple of blocks with Aaron by work. Got a couple of good hill sections in on the way home.

Made myself be disciplined this morning and spun my way into work as a recovery for yesterday and had a great old time. Whilst waiting for the rush to be put together again, I went for a hoon out over the Cashmere downs and out to Tai Tapu before catching up with the Scollys.

Great stuff.

I rode to work for the first time in over a year. 42 km of rolling Taranaki backroads goodness (mostly). Nice morning for it, but I seem to have morphed into a tubby lump when it comes to going up. The 23 low gear on the back certainly took some grinding on the steeper climbs.

Pretty stoked to clock in under two hours with a heavy pack and without thrashing myself. Dare say it'll take some time to get back down to the 1 hour 20's I used to pull.

great stuff Callum, you will be amazed at how quick it comes back if you can be consistent

Cheers. Unfortunately with four kids under 5, including the new twins, consistency and planning are utterly foreign concepts in our household. Shoud be able to squeeze a few more rides in before the au pair buggers off though.

Yarrrr. They will be teenagers very quickly and will be pwning the old man in no time ;)

I had a super ride in today. The bike got some loving so that it's in good form for GirlsOnBikes when Lisa gets time off for good behaviour from Auckland. The bike certainly showed it's appreciation, and I was able to zoom in. Was supposed to be a sifty spin to get blood round all the muscles after Sunday, but I suppose that still happened
I did stay in the first chain-ring like a good boy.

Saw Scolly on my HOS (Heap of Shit) and we gave each other a wave across the intersection. I didn't actually recognise him until he was passed me, I recognised the bike!

This weekend marks 8 months of continuous riding, the first time since I snapped my arm off in 1998! w00t
What usually happens is that I get to about 3 months and something comes up and I lose any traction I was getting on raising my fitness levels. Celebrations will be had in Queenstown.

Having a good week thus far. Monday was pretty good even with dead legs, was going to spin but ended up chasing people. Yesterday was back to the sucky easterly and wasn't too pleasant, but still a good time. I rode out to Tai Tap and back to the car, very pleasant.

Today was great, stormed in, even though I have had very little sleep over the night. Passed about 30 cyclists and 100s or cars nose to tail, a good feeling on go by bike day. Very dissappointed with the breakfast though, very narrow choice and not that tasty. Ended up having a watered down juice and leaving straight away. Probably go for a longer ride today before heading home.

Another great week for riding. Got a PB in today, and wasn't even puffing, such superb conditions.

Had some guy steam past me on Tuesday, as I was spinning, I continued to spin behind him for a bit and then change up to 2nd and drop him leaving him gasping. Heh heh heh

I'm riding in from Tai Tap now, it's quite a pleasant ride.

Nice ride around Lake Ellesmere today with Col. 80kms or so. Nice time of year and day as we watched the sun set on Banks Peninsula.

Short jaunt with Shailer from town to Tai Tap, then back again.
No, we didn't stop for a coffee, no I don't feel fit.
My knee is sore still... will have to look up some exercises to help stretch the ligament...
Or, I could go and see a doc. :eh:

Hmmm sore knees means too much too soon, best to just rest and start back slowly :)

It's not so much too much too soon...
More an injury from Easter (last time I rode my MTB in anger) that hadn't sorted itself out like I had hoped.
Thanks for the tip Slim!

Ahhhhh gotcha, my knee took years to come right, biggest thing for me was good shoes to support my lack of arches off and on the bike, I could write a book... Been a long time since I've done any kms tho', will be interesting after I'm allowed to ride again how it holds up as I'm keen to get some serious fitness back again :)
