shailer and collin did it a couple of weeks back - so they should be able to report - do know it was pretty muddy but of course we've had ZERO rain since then

OK, I'm keen. Will have another 2 or 3 riders. So where do we meet and when. What sort of time do we need to allow for the ride.
Forecast for morning is a bit average so an 11pm start at the carpark would be all good for me. Earlier if that's what everyone else is doing.

Cool :ride:

I'm just working times out with Spence. A bit later would work better i reckon due to some (possible) light showers. Time wise- I can't remember how long it took last year- but I'd allow 4 hours for hut return (if clear) and a cruisy ride + much photos+ food.

Sweet. I'm in. Forecast looks good for tomorrow itself although a few cms of rain forecast for later night. Hopefully, it won't be too slippery

I'll get a chance to try out new RubberQueen tyre on the front of bike. Very stinky tyre. It is the stinkiest tyre I've ever come across. Just sitting in it's box it is making the office smell like a petrol station forecourt.

11 in the carpark sounds good. I really can't remember how long it took to drive last time. I reckon driving through the gates alone on 4wd track up to the carpark took 20minutes. I think an hour and half should easily cover it?

They get you to Ohau as well don't they?

9cm of fresh snow expected there over the course of today.

Too bad I'm going up to Methven to look at getting a new car, then through to CHCH for the rest of the day

We should reassess the weather in the morning as I have heard Wharfedale is a pig if it has been wet

I'm probably not the best person to ask. I've only ridden it twice in the dry. I don't think it'll be that bad.

Perhaps a couple of sections will require some walking if it's too treacherous. Maybe the lads who rode it a few weeks ago would care to comment? Guess it would have been wet then?

I'm using the mountain forecast for Craigieburn skifield. 2-3cms of rain. It's likely that Mt Oxford will see significantly less.

You will be fine, the canopy will reduce much of the effects of rain, 2-3 mm won't do much with the awesome weather of late.

There are a few bogs, but I have never seen them dry.

Best time to ride IMHO is when there is fresh snow.

We will be in there earlier than you guys, but may see you on the way out.
